Tell us what you think about Havering's blue and green spaces in Rainham and Beam Park by taking part in our survey

The Rainham and Beam Park Green Infrastructure Study survey forms part of a wider programme of engagement taking place across the area during the summer and gives local residents, workers and visitors in and around the study area the opportunity to help shape the future of green and blue spaces.

What do we mean by "Green" and "Blue" spaces?

• Green spaces include parks, woodlands, nature reserves, playgrounds, community gardens, private gardens, allotments, cemeteries, orchards, street trees, and open spaces such as Rainham Marshes.
• Blue spaces include rivers, lakes, canals, ponds, streams and other waterways, street swales, rain gardens and other temporary wetland areas for managing flood risk.

The first section asks a few questions about you which helps us understand whether different groups have different experiences. This helps us ensure that future plans are designed to benefit everyone.

The second section focuses on specific places within the study area and how you use them. It also includes a map where you can pin comments.

The third section focuses on Citizen Action and asks if you are interested in getting involved in greening activities.

The survey should take around 15–20 minutes to complete, depending on how much detail you choose to provide. Some questions are optional, so you can skip any that you prefer not to answer.

About the Study

The Green Infrastructure Study has been commissioned by London Riverside BID, the Business Improvement District for Rainham's employment area, in partnership with Havering Council. The project is funded by the Mayor of London through the Green Roots Fund.

The study focuses on the green and blue spaces in the area shown below within the red boundary on the maps. However, we are also interested in hearing about green spaces, rivers, waterways and routes just outside the boundary if they are important to you or regularly used by you.

Why your views matter

Your feedback will help inform future plans and opportunities to improve green and blue infrastructure across the mapped area and will help us to understand:

Access

• How easy it is for people to reach and enjoy local green and blue spaces.
• What barriers prevent people from using them more often.
• Where walking, cycling or other connections could be improved.

Quality

• What people value about existing green and blue spaces.
• What improvements would make these spaces more attractive, welcoming and accessible.
• How these spaces can better support wildlife, biodiversity and climate resilience, while meeting the needs of local communities.

Citizen Action

• If you would like to get involved with any local community activities or groups working to improve local green and blue spaces.
• If you would be like to be more involved in taking action to support biodiversity whether at home or in the community. Your interest in gaining formal or informal ‘green’ skills through training opportunities.
