Ardleigh Green Road Shopping area - Proposed Environmental Improvements

Overview

As part of our programme of works to improve shopping areas, the London Borough of Havering is proposing to upgrade the frontage of No 108 to 122 & 179 to 207 Ardleigh Green Road, and 177 to 179 Squirrels Health Lane.

This is due to commence in summer 2026, following the completion of the Gallows corner works.

The improvements will include:

  • Conversion of Asphalt footways to Modular paving to include demarcation between private forecourts and the public highway
  • Installation of a Rain Garden to assist the surface water drainage.
  • Installation of tactile paving and bollards to serve recently upgraded pedestrian refuge.
  • Repairs to pedestrian guardrail.
  • Re-painting of existing bollards.
  • Replacement of damaged street signposts and street signs.

As part of the project, we would like to include private forecourts in our works, to help improve the overall appearance of the area.

If your property has a private forecourt, we can arrange for works to be undertaken as part of our project at no cost to yourselves and we will maintain the completed works for one year.

The occupier or landowner will still be responsible for the forecourt. Carrying out these works does not mean the Council is taking on any extra or further maintenance responsibilities beyond what already exists.

Plans showing the extent of the proposals can be viewed by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.
