Regeneration of Farnham and Hilldene Estate

Closes 4 Aug 2021

Opened 26 Jul 2021

Overview

The regeneration of Farnham and Hilldene Estate is part of the Council’s long-term ambition to improve Harold Hill District Centre as a place to live, work, shop, and enjoy for the whole community.

This webpage provides an update on the community-led regeneration of the estate and information on how you can get involved in shaping the design proposals.

Why we are consulting

The Council has worked closely with residents since 2016 on what they think should happen to the homes on the estate, exploring options for refurbishing the existing homes and adding more floors, as well as full scale redevelopment.

Our latest consultation showed that residents favoured comprehensive redevelopment and this approach was approved by the council’s cabinet in March 2021.

The Council has now begun working with architects to develop ideas for a new district centre and how it could be delivered with the least amount of disruption to residents, businesses, and the wider community.

We are very much in the early stages of the design process and look forward to working with residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to help build a shared vision for the future of Farnham and Hilldene Estate.

How to get involved

We will be hosting a variety of community consultations over 2021 and 2022 to give everyone in the local community the opportunity to provide regular feedback on the designs for the new homes, shops, businesses, and public realm as they progress.

Our consultation events will be at the new Harold Hill Community Hub on Chippenham Road (in the former housing office).

These will be drop-in sessions, giving you a chance to meet our team and ask them any questions you might have.

We have arranged a number of different sessions for residents, businesses, and the wider community, detailed below:

  • If you are a resident that lives on the estate or have moved off the estate but have the Right to Return, please come along on Monday 26th July or Monday 2nd August anytime between 4pm and 7pm.
  • If you run or manage a business, please come along on Wednesday 28th July or Wednesday 4th August anytime between 8am and 10am.
  • If you are a resident OR business and you are unable to attend at the above times, or if you are a member of the wider community, including anyone who works or shops in the area, please come along to our open sessions on Wednesday 28th July, Monday 2nd August or Wednesday 4th August anytime between 12pm and 3pm.
