Havering Council Tenants Rent Increase

Closes 21 Feb 2025

Opened 6 Feb 2025

Overview

If you are a Council tenant we would like your views!

The Council has to set a rent increase in accordance with the Government formula which is Consumer Price Index (CPI) plus 1%. This year, the figure for the CPI was 1.7%, so the Council can only increase your rent by 2.7%. This is what we are proposing to do from early April 2025.

Rents help to pay for the maintenance and management of all rented Council homes. The increase proposed this year, which is much smaller than last year's, will help us to maintain and improve our service to you.

The Council is working hard to improve the housing service whilst keeping rents at a reasonable level. Havering still has some of the lowest rents for Council homes in London.
