North Street Collisions Reduction Scheme

Closes 1 Nov 2024

Opened 11 Oct 2024

Overview

Havering Council is looking for your views on a proposed safety improvement scheme for North Street.

The proposed collisions reduction scheme follows a feasibility study that was carried out and found that up to 1,700 vehicles per hour use North Street with speeds of up to 50 mph regularly recorded. Further analysis of collision records showed that a total of twenty-five personal injury accidents (PIAs) were recorded along North Street between A12 Eastern Avenue West and St Edwards Way Roundabout. Of these twenty-five PIAs, two were serious; four involved pedestrians, two occurred in wet conditions and five occurred during the hours of darkness.

With funding being provided by the Mayor of London’s Transport for London office (TfL), we can now look at a proposed scheme which includes:

  • A zebra crossing with tactile paving
  • Illuminated belisha beacon posts
