We know the Government have said that they are looking at how money is distributed to local government through the funding formula.

The funding formula is unfit for purpose and uses data that is over a decade old. The data no longer reflects Havering’s rapidly changing population and is no longer adequate for Havering to deliver core statutory services like school transport for those with special educational needs and disabilities, social care and homelessness.

All of these services are under threat as Havering can no longer afford to deliver both statutory and non-statutory services without asking for further government loans.

Therefore, we, the undersigned want the Government to look at how council’s like Havering which have high Council Tax but low funding, can benefit from a better funding formula that accurately reflects our needs. This will help to protect and maintain non-statutory services that we pay our Council Tax for. This includes clean streets, quality parks and green spaces, good roads and pavements, street lighting, youth services, rubbish collections and much more.

We, the undersigned, also want the Government to review what councils like Havering should be responsible for. Is it my Council's job to deliver what the Government wants, or should the Council be delivering services residents expect and be funded to do so?
